Do not forget about the functional and logical breakdowns as it does not start with BoMs it starts with #requirements.
The ability to breakdown the configuration information in a way that allows you to manage #baselines and #ownership, process #changes efficiently, and communicate information effectively in a way that ensures the #integrity of the information is a critical part of Configuration Management.
The way you breakdown your products depend on your organizational breakdown and governance, culture, and the type of products you make.
